The Brief
Cakes By Andrew are a family-run, independent cake shop based in Garston, Liverpool and have been selling their delicious treats straight from their store and to businesses across the city since 2015.
They noticed that their customers really loved their existing cake designs, but were often requesting changes, such as adding another tier, or asking for a mix of flavour combinations in order to create a bespoke cake that worked for them.
This was taking a lot of time to communicate, so they required a simpler way for customers to order exactly what they wanted, when they wanted it.
The Solution
We created a bespoke Shopify solution that streamlined the ordering process, both for the customer and the in-house baking team.
The site now features a unique cake builder that allows customers to order custom cakes, quickly and simply online.
Available to use on sponge cakes that are baked in-store from scratch such as birthday and wedding cakes, the online cake building tool lets customers pick their ideal size and flavour from a wide range of innovative cake designs, which includes the ability to pick different tiered cake flavour combinations.
The website also gives customers further customisable options such as adding personalised cake toppers and matching cupcakes, as well as being able to select dietary requirements such as gluten free and nut free options.
The new site also lets customers pick a date and time for collecting their order from the Garston-based cake shop, as well as offering a range of convenient one step checkout payment options such as Apple Pay and PayPal Express.
